First introduced in 1940, Fanta is the second oldest brand of The Coca-Cola Company. Fanta orange came about during the Second World War when a trade embargo was established against Nazi Germany, making the import of Coca-Cola syrup difficult. To combat this, Max Keith, the head of Coca-Cola Deutschland, decided to create a new product for the German market, using only ingredients available in Germany at the time, which he described as leftovers. After the war, The Coca-Cola Company regained control of the plant, formula, and the trademarks to the new Fanta product, along with all the profits made from the war. In 1943 alone, a massive 3 million cases of Fanta were sold! All in all, there are more than 90 flavours of Fanta globally!
